Woodworking placeholder

Well, like any art form, woodworking has a lot to teach us. The lesson for me lately has been patience. My main goal has been to make the bench I’ve already posted about. It hasn’t happened. Shop time has been very limited by other life forces – primarily my 1 ½ year-old son. When I have found time to slip out into the shop, things haven’t gone smoothly. I’ve been rushing things – and you can’t do that with hand tools.

Here’s what I mean. Recently, I had some time to work out in the shop. But I wasn’t working on the bench project, because my son Teague had been raiding the open CD shelves and trashing the discs. So instead, I was working on a “fast project” to make some boxes for the CDs so that they could live in the relative safety of a cupboard.
